so uh, a new year is here huh?

2020 was a weird and kinda bad year for me. I mean, it was for everyone really but yeah...

I went through 3 different jobs this year. I wrecked my parents' nice car that they were kind enough to let me use, then got a new car from them that turned out to be kinda trashy and spent probably close to $1000 trying to get it fixed (and it still has a ton of issues) Then homeless people broke into it and lived in it for about a week. My sister and I moved out of our apartment after that happened (after wanting to for months already due to some other bad experiences) before our lease was even up so we couldnt get our deposit back. And while the new place we're at is really nice, we were only given like a week and a half to move in so that was a very stressful time. My aunt died earlier this year, but because of covid I couldn't even attend the funeral. There was a nice ceremony I went to but not the actual funeral for her. I suffered with tooth pain for months because I was told at first that it was normal for a tooth to feel sensitive after a crown. When I wanted to get it looked at, I had lost my job and had no insurance. I got a new job shortly after but didn't have benefits yet, so I waited for several more months, the pain getting worse. Then when my insurance benefits finally kicked in I found out they aren't offering dental yet. But the pain was becoming unbearable so I just went in and shelled out $860 for a root canal.

But there were a few good things that happened too. Like I said earlier my sister and I moved into a new place that's actually really nice and is much closer to home than our icky old place was. I started on a new big project, and while on the surface from what I've posted it may not look like much, it's actually made a huge impact on me in the short amount of time it's been here. I've already learned a lot and grown as an artist, as well as made so many new friends in the nuzlocke community. I've gained a lot of confidence in myself when it comes to art, and while I still struggle with a lot of things, I'm so grateful for all the friends I've made who have been supporting me and encouraging me to keep going. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and support.

I don't expect everything to magically go away and get better right away, however I am feeling the slightest hint of optimism that 2021 will be a brighter and better year than this garbage fire of a year 2020 was
