I'll Love You in Return

Description

I guess I knew that it was coming. More and more humans had been appearing; and so many of my friends had already been captured. I just knew that my turn was coming. Then came the day he found me. I was out playing near a stream when I was suddenly pinned down by a Pignite. It attacked me with flame charge and then struck me again with take down. I was about to attack back, but a strange red and white ball hit me on the forehead and suddenly I was engulfed in darkness. I struggled, trying to break free, but the darkness wouldn’t leave. I was trapped. I suddenly got the feeling that I was moving, I felt as though I were floating. “Alright! I caught my own Scraggy!” I heard the boy cheer.

Suddenly a strange sensation came over me and I was thrown back outside. Traumatized, I began to run in circles, trying frantically to remember where I was. Then the boy leaned down in front of me and fed me an oran berry. “Hey there, girl,” he said to me, “I bet you’re hungry. You’re going to be my pokemon now, okay? How about I give you a nice name?” He stood back up and started pacing back and forth, mumbling to himself.

After a couple of minutes, he suddenly turned and called out, “Opal!” He scared me so badly that I cried out and dashed behind a nearby tree. “Hey, hey. Sorry girl. I didn’t mean to scare ya. What do you think of the name Opal? I think it suits a pretty little pokemon like you,” he said gently, rubbing my head. Well, this wasn’t very bad at all. He seemed really nice. I really liked him, actually. Maybe being captured by a trainer really wasn’t as bad as everyone said.

I fit in perfectly with the team. We were all treated with equal affection and we all had some cute and rather silly nicknames. One day we were out training when the boy held something up to me. It was round and shiny, and had a little hole in the middle of it. “You see this, Opal? It’s called a TM. This one teaches the move ‘Return’. I want you to learn it,” he said as he placed the strange object on my head. It started shining really brightly, and I felt a strange tingle throughout my body. Then the thing disappeared and I could no longer remember how to use the move “Swagger”.

“Cool!” the boy shouted, “Let’s try it out! Opal, use Return on that tree right there!” He cried, pointing at a tall tree. I charged at the tree without a moment of hesitation. I thrust my arm towards it and heard the bark crack loudly. Then, to my surprise, the tree began swaying and fell to the ground! I had no idea that I had such power! My other moves were never so strong. The boy obviously felt the same utter surprise as me because he screamed with excitement and picked me up in his arms.

“Wow, Opal! You’re so powerful!” He squealed as he danced in circles, swinging me joyously. I couldn’t help but share his enjoyment. Despite how dizzy I was, I had never felt such joy in my life as I did at that very moment; and it was at that time that I promised myself: I won’t let anything tear us apart.

I was right, because through every trainer and gym leader we defeated, every hardship we faced, and every new landscape we explored, I was right by his side. I mean, literally. The boy noticed how afraid I was of pokeballs and he never kept me in mine. My return attack continued to grow stronger and stronger and could never sink below the power of my other attacks. It wasn’t long before I evolved and became a Scrafty. “Awesome! You evolved, Opal!” The boy praised me.

One day, we were heading towards Victory Road when a trainer spotted us and stopped us to have a battle. I stayed back next to him as he fought the first opponent. He chose to use Spitz, his Krookodile, first. I didn’t mind, though, because I knew that I would eventually get my turn. Spitz took down the foe’s Zebstrika in just two turns. The foe then sent out a Lilligant, and Spitz began to struggle. “Spitz, return!” the boy sent Spitz back into his pokeball, “Okay, Opal, you’re up!”

I dashed forward and smirked at Lilligant, waiting eagerly for my boy’s command. “Opal, use Crunch!” He said. Crunch? I thought, but I want to use Return!. I could never disobey my trainer though so I lunged and crashed into Lilligant, sinking my teeth into its arm. Then I jumped off of it and waited. It attacked with magical leaf, but the leaves didn’t do much damage as they sliced at my arms. “Scary face!” The boy shouted. Once again disappointed, I glared at the Lilligant until it was paralyzed with fear. “Alright, now attack with Return!” He finished his command.

Yes… I said to myself with pleasure. I charged and thrust my arms at Lilligant. Using all my strength, I punched and shoved and completely thrashed Lilligant. However, for some strange reason, I couldn’t stop. I must win…I must show my boy that I love him! my thoughts screamed at me. Then, something happened that never had before; Lilligant drew blood. As I clawed and punched blood began to soak my hands. Both my boy and the Lilligant’s owner began screaming in horror. “Stop, Opal! Stop!” He screamed.

At his command I forced my muscles to stop, staring in horror at what I had caused. Lilligant was panting on the ground, covered in bruises and gashes that oozed with blood. Lilligant’s owner screamed and scrambled to his dying pokemon. “What…what have you done!?” the trainer gave me a look full of so much hatred that I ran and clung to my boy’s leg.

The boy started trembling. “I… I’m so sorry …n-nothing like that has ever happened. I don’t know what got into her. I…” he mumbled, staggering towards the other trainer. “Here,” he shakily handed the trainer a handful of money, “use this to heal it. I’m really, really sorry.” The trainer snatched the money and scooped up the bleeding pokemon. Then he threw one last disgusting glare at me before running away. My boy turned to me. “Opal…what did you do?” He looked sick and pale, and he fell to knees and sobbed in front of me.

I wished I could tell him how sorry I was. I wished I could take back what happened. I still was unaware of my own strength. I had no idea what happened. I just couldn’t help myself. But I knew that I had no words for him that he would be able to understand. The feelings coming from him were a mix of fear and anger. Slowly I turned and ran, screaming as I tried to escape the horrible nightmare I was facing.

***

He found me sleeping next to a river, where I had washed the blood off of myself. He woke me up, but when I awoke I no longer sensed any anger from him. “Hey, it’s okay. I know you didn’t mean to. We all make mistakes now and then,” he smiled down at me, and then picked me up. We flew to Opelucid City and made it to the Pokemon Center. After we spent the night there, we went back out for some more training. “I want to make sure that we can defeat the Elite Four, okay?” He said to all of us when he released the other from their pokeballs.

As we trained, the boy avoided using Return on anything. It kind of made me angry, because I wanted to show him that I wouldn’t mess up again. We would be stronger if I used Return, I wished I could tell him. But once again I couldn’t.

We continued to train for the rest of the day, and we were worn out by the time the sun finally set. The next morning we headed towards Victory Road again. As we stood before the large opening, the boy started trembling with anxiety. I could feel nervousness tug at the pit of my stomach, so I grabbed his hand to let him know we were in this together.

Getting through Victory Road was tough, and by the time we made it out I was almost out of energy, as was the rest of the team. The boy collapsed in exhaustion as we entered the Pokemon League building. I fell beside him, feeling my energy leave me completely. I could scarcely feel my body being taken away to be healed. It seemed like forever, but we were finally recovered and ready to face the Elite Four. The boy set up a bed on a couch in the building, sent all of the team out of their pokeballs, and gave us a hug. “Alright guys, let’s get plenty of rest for the big day tomorrow. We may fail, but that’s okay. We’ll just try again when we’re stronger. I just want you guys to know that no matter what happens, you’ll always be the greatest pokemon I’ve ever had,” he whispered to us. Then we all snuggled up to sleep.

No matter what happens tomorrow, master, I won’t let us fail. I’ll do whatever it takes. I promised silently before slipping into a deep sleep.

***

“Okay Opal, are you ready to face the Champion?” The boy asked me. I was pretty tired from the previous battles, but I was more ready than ever. I smiled and nodded at him encouragingly. Then, with a deep breath, we stepped through the doors and into the Champion’s stage. The two talked a bit, and then the battle began. Oinky, the boy’s Emboar, was used to take out Alder’s first pokemon, which was Accelder. “That was one lucky shot, but let’s see how you do against this one!” Alder cried as he sent out a Bouffalant.

“Your turn, Opal!” The boy turned and beckoned me. I jumped forward, ready to attack. “Alright, start it out with Giga impact!” He shouted. I summoned up every bit of strength I could, and charged at Bouffalant. I released my energy and shoved it to the ground with my fists, punching and kicking with all my might. The move took down Bouffalant in just one hit, but the move had taken more than half of my energy, and I fell to the ground.

The next pokemon was Druddigon, and it attacked right away with Superpower. Pain shot through me as Druddigon slammed into me, causing me to skid across the floor. The move did quite some damage, but I was ready to fight once again as the boy gave me a full restore. Druddigon attacked once again with dragon tail, but I quickly dodged to move. My boy told me to use Rock climb. I threw my body at Druddigon and smashed it to the ground. It then became confused and started slashing at itself.

“Charge your Focus punch, Opal,” he whispered. I concentrated, focusing my energy into my clenched fist. I could tell that Druddigon was trying to attack me with Night slash, but just before it reached me I slammed my fist into its chest and sent it sliding away until it smashed into the wall and fainted. “Awesome job, Opal!” The boy cheered. He then called me back and sent out Trixie the Sawsbuck. I watched in anticipation as the battle raged on. At first, I was confident, and so was the boy. The team took down the pokemon pretty quickly, but one by one they began to faint. I don’t even remember how many revives the boy had to use. Finally, Alder was down to his last pokemon, Volcarona. But no matter how many times me and the others were revived, we couldn’t beat Volcarona. Our attacks started to become effortless.

“Your move, kid,” Alder smirked at us. My boy stared at me for a long time, and then a sudden wave of anxiety and confidence burst from him and he opened his mouth. “Opal, use return,” he said. I was shocked. I had almost forgotten that I knew that move. But he had never let me forget it, and I never let myself forget it either. But now was my chance to show him just how strong I could be.

I have to be strong, I have to be strong the words repeated in my mind, I can’t let my boy down. I HAVE TO BE STRONG! I charged, feeling strength coming back to me. Then I pinned it down and threw countless punches, using the move Snarl as I did so. I mustn’t fail…I mustn’t fail… my mind screamed at me as I clawed and punched and snarled in fury. Volcarona began wailing in agony as I tore at its flesh. Its body started to heat up and I could tell that it was attacking me with Overheat, but I didn’t retreat. Soon the heat began to be unbearable, but I couldn’t get myself to stop. No, please…not again. I won’t let it happen again! Tears began streaming down my face and a blast of fire sent me spiraling across the room. I smashed into the wall and fell into a heap on the floor.

“Opal! Opal, get up! Please!” I heard his voice calling me. Slowly I stood on my shaky muscles and waited for the boy’s next command. “Come on, just one more attack and we’ll win! Hit him with Return one more time!” The boy shouted courageously. Once again I jumped on Volcarona, this time trying as hard as I could to control my strength. Yet try as I might, my brain fought against the will of my heart and ripped Volcarona in two. Gasping in horror, I dropped the dead body and fell backwards, breathing heavily and trembling to the bone.

Alder stood staring dumbly at the morbid site before him. Then, before I knew what was happening, Alder lunged and kicked the boy to the ground, screaming in fury. The boy cried for help as Alder threw punches at his head. I knew what I had to do. I had to protect my boy. Trembling, blinded by the blood that had splattered my face, I threw my weight forward and smashed into Alder’s head. Screaming with all my might, I threw him off of the boy and started clawing his throat. This time I didn’t try to hold back. I couldn’t let Alder hurt him anymore. Using up every last bit of strength, I smashed his head to the ground, killing him.

Whimpering, I stumbled to the boy’s side and collapsed on his chest. “Thank you, Opal… you saved me. Good girl.” That was the last thing I heard before I blacked out.

***

From that moment on we’ve spent our days running from the people who try to arrest him. He now isn’t afraid to tell me to use Return, and neither am I. Unlike before, he now seems to understand what I try to tell him. We will be stronger than everyone else forever and ever, as long as we have each other. He knows that nobody will ever hurt him again. No one will ever hurt me, either, and it’s because of the protection I provide that he still loves me.

He’s released all of his pokemon, so I’m the only one left to be there for him. Every day my Return attack gets stronger and stronger. I’ve actually forgotten how to use my other attacks. Every time someone finds our hiding place, I attack without needing to be commanded. First I destroy their pokemon, and then I destroy them. However, lately I’ve been feeling the strength leave me faster, I get more and more tired by the time the sun sets each day. I’ve lost track of how long the boy and I have been together, but I must be getting pretty old. Sometimes the boy gets really worried before we go to bed at night. “We’re running out of places to hide, Opal,” he always tells me, “They’ll have to find us sooner or later. And I don’t think you can take on all of their Stoutlands. I’m scared Opal.”

The more I think about it… I’m scared too. My strength won’t last forever. But if the day comes that we do get beaten, I’ll be sure to let my boy know that I did my best to be strong. As long as we’re together… we’re strong; Even if we die.

Wait… there are more of them coming. They’ve found us! I can’t tell how many of them there are, but I have to protect my boy. Here they come. The Stoutlands are all going to attack at once. Okay… okay. They’re leaping at me, their teeth must be sharper than any I’ve ever seen. But no matter what happens, I will be strong.

I have to be strong.

a creepypasta for :iconpokemoncreepy-pasta:'s newest contest. I'm not sure about the title though...if anyone has any better ideas then do tell me so x3

The story is in the description because the picture is so big and I didn't want to make it so puny and stupid looking :B

BUT OH MY GOSH IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY HOW LONG I SPENT ON THIS.

seriously, I first got the idea in about February. Like, the very beginning of February. And I just finished writing the story about three days ago. BUT I AM SO PROUD OF THIS AND THIS IS MY FIRST PASTA THAT I REALLY REALLY LIKE. AND I'M FRICKEN PROUD OF THE PICTURE, TOO. I HAVEN'T DRAWN ANYTHING THIS GOOD FOR AT LEAST A MONTH.

so the idea came when I was playing pokemon with ~Winterscale and we were transferring all of our old pokemon to our Black versions. Then he was showing me Skyflamer, his Blaziken which he rose to level 100 without using any cheats whatsoever. (and he's been level 100 since like 2009 on his Sapphire version). Anyway Skyflamer knows the move Return, and he was telling me that when he still had him on Sapphire, the move was like ultimately powerful. So then I was thinking "hmm...what if a pokemon loved its trainer so much that return went beyond the pokemon's strength? and it went crazy and actually ended up killing a pokemon?" and poof. this was born.

the real trouble was picking which pokemon to use though. I wanted it to be a pokemon loved by most everyone (and it had to be 5th generation as that is the theme of the contest), and I wanted it to be a little unexpected, one that's adorable and almost never thought to be one to end up killing someone. so I chose Scrafty. yep.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :iconwarriorkloneomon: FOR PROOFREADING IT AND GIVING ME SO MUCH ADVICE AND HELPING ME MAKE IT 100 TIMES BETTER THAN IT WAS BEFORE! AND ALSO :iconshadowfrost1: FOR THE NICE CRITIQUE ON IT.

and, if there are any spelling/grammar errors, please tell me!

IF I FIND THIS ANYWHERE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION I WILL EAT YOU ALIVE.
but you have my permission to submit this onto f yeah pokemon creepypasta and stuff like that...but don't use the image or story and claim it as your own!

In honor of your story (and my love of Pokepastas in general), here's my Opal!

I'm a little mad she doesn't have Return, though... For lore reasons!
